Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Agriculture Society (JJJKAS), a registered NGO founded by retired officers and soldiers of the Indian Army, has always been driven by a mission to uplift rural India through agricultural transformation. Headquartered in Patna, Bihar, JJJKAS focuses on empowering farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and food processors from the most remote and underdeveloped parts of the state. A major highlight in its journey is the submission of a ₹17 crore grant proposal currently under review by Tata Trusts—a name synonymous with large-scale philanthropic impact in India.

This partnership signals a significant leap forward in our vision of creating a sustainable, self-reliant, and export-ready agricultural economy in Bihar. If approved, the grant will fuel programs that go beyond conventional farming—it will nurture the future of agriculture in Bihar by leveraging innovation, infrastructure, and grassroots empowerment.

Understanding the Vision Behind the Proposal

At the core of the ₹17 crore proposal is a structured plan aimed at transforming rural livelihoods. JJJKAS has designed this initiative to address every layer of the agricultural value chain—from soil to shelf. The proposal outlines the creation of smart agri-zones, development of processing hubs, training modules for farmers, and a dedicated digital infrastructure to connect producers with markets.

The vision includes:

  • Equipping farmers with training on modern and sustainable farming practices
  • Setting up value-addition and processing units to increase product shelf-life and value
  • Building agri-export clusters across rural Bihar
  • Creating digital and physical infrastructure to reduce post-harvest loss
  • Introducing entrepreneurship cells for rural youth

This is not just about injecting capital—it’s about fostering capability, mindset shifts, and opportunities where they matter most.

Why Tata Trusts?

Tata Trusts has played a crucial role in India’s development landscape for decades. Their credibility, execution capacity, and experience in rural engagement make them an ideal ally. JJJKAS chose to work with Tata Trusts because both organizations believe in the same core values: impact, transparency, and community-first models.

This proposed collaboration aligns strategic funding with field-level execution, ensuring that the proposed projects are not just aspirational, but achievable. Tata Trusts brings technical, managerial, and financial insight, while JJJKAS brings grassroots leadership and deep regional understanding.

JJJKAS: Experience on the Ground

Since its establishment in February 2014, JJJKAS has consistently engaged with farmers at the village level. Our organization is led by a disciplined and committed team of retired Army personnel who have dedicated their second innings to national development through agriculture.

We assist farmers in:

  • Accessing and navigating government schemes
  • Adopting organic and climate-resilient methods
  • Connecting with food processors and exporters
  • Gaining knowledge on compliance, packaging, and certification

We are proud to be a 12A and 80G certified NGO, making all eligible donations tax-exempt under Indian law. This has helped us build trust with donors, CSR partners, and institutions.

What We Hope to Achieve

The expected outcomes of the Tata Trusts partnership are ambitious yet measurable. With adequate funding and collaboration, we aim to:

  • Train 10,000+ farmers across 15 districts
  • Create 25 village-based agro-processing units
  • Launch mobile soil-testing and farm advisory vans
  • Build market linkage platforms targeting domestic and export markets
  • Introduce smart irrigation pilots in water-stressed zones

This will also include a strong focus on women farmers, encouraging their participation in leadership, production, and trade roles.

Creating a Model for Rural India

This initiative is not limited to Bihar. The goal is to create a scalable model that can be replicated across other states in India. Our model is based on disciplined execution, constant monitoring, and outcome-based reporting—an approach that we believe sets us apart.

We envision Bihar as a hub for high-quality, export-ready agricultural produce. With institutional backing from Tata Trusts, this vision can move closer to reality.

What This Means for Stakeholders

For farmers, this means better income, access to modern resources, and a move away from uncertainty. For youth, this means jobs, entrepreneurship, and a reason to stay and grow in their own land. For the agricultural economy, this means stronger supply chains, value addition, and global recognition.

More importantly, it reinforces JJJKAS’s mission: to bring discipline, leadership, and sustainable development to India’s agricultural heartlands.

The Way Forward

The grant proposal is currently under review, but for JJJKAS, the work never stops. We continue to engage with farmers, improve our field networks, and build strategic relationships that bring real value to rural communities.

A successful partnership with Tata Trusts would be a milestone—a validation of our efforts and a springboard into the next phase of rural development.

Our commitment is clear: to build rural India, one village at a time. And with strong partnerships, we believe anything is possible.
